About BREEN
End of a chapter, start of something new
After seven years full of stories, encounters and community, Pakhuis de Zwijger closed a special chapter: New Metropolis Nieuw-West. It was a place like no other, which – as spoken word artist Luan Buleshkaj aptly described it – was a “local metropolis”: raw, quirky and full of authentic energy.
A new start: from NMNW to BREEN
Storytelling Centre and Kringwijs are continuing this work under the name BREEN. The mission remains the same: to create a vibrant place where listening, connecting and making space for the city are central. Located in the heart of Nieuw-West, BREEN remains a platform for dialogue, culture and community.
We look forward with enthusiasm to this new phase and the collaborations that lie ahead. With the support of Pakhuis de Zwijger, which remains closely connected to Nieuw-West, we will continue to build a fair, sustainable and creative city. Here’s to a bright future together with BREEN!

Entertainment
BREEN is also about pure enjoyment. That is why we organise evenings where you can come and be surprised and entertained. Think of a Storytelling Fight Night, where storytellers compete against each other with their most compelling, funny or moving stories – and the audience chooses the winner. In addition to such battles, you can count on a variety of formats full of energy, humour and spectacle. Stories always play the leading role, but with a sharp edge and a good dose of entertainment. An evening where you don't just listen, but participate, cheer and laugh.
Substance
At BREEN, we believe that difficult topics can be made lighter. We organise evenings where we approach subjects that are often hushed up, avoided or considered too serious – such as migraine – in a fresh way. Don't expect heavy lectures, but surprising formats: a quiz, relatable stories, a touch of humour and room for discussion. This creates an evening that is both light-hearted and profound. The goal? You go home with new insights, recognition and a smile.

BREEN is located in Amsterdam Slotermeer. Parking is available in front of the building or at P+R Bos en Lommer (paid).
Are you travelling by public transport? We are a ten-minute walk from Jan van Galenstraat metro station. Metro lines 50 and 51 depart every five minutes from Amsterdam Sloterdijk. From Amsterdam Central Station, it is best to take tram 13 towards Geuzenveld.
BREEN is an initiative of Storytelling Centre and Kringwijs.
Storytelling Centre is a nationally and internationally renowned training centre. Using various storytelling methods, we promote personal growth, social impact and language development. We are also a knowledge institute and theatre producer.
Kringwijs works towards a society in which people seek each other out and ask each other to contribute ideas for solutions, even when this may not seem obvious.
